What We Do

Research, analysis and knowledge exchange

RFC develops research and policy analysis on livelihoods, climate resilience, social protection, governance and inclusive development, subject to project scope and capacity.

01

Research and evidence generation

RFC can develop research questions, review available evidence and design appropriate studies to explore development challenges. Depending on the project, outputs may include research protocols, interview guides, analytical summaries and research reports.

02

Policy analysis and recommendations

RFC seeks to examine how policies and programmes respond to identified problems, where implementation challenges may arise and what options merit further consideration. Recommendations should be practical, clearly reasoned and proportionate to the evidence.

03

Qualitative and mixed-methods research

Where appropriate and feasible, RFC may support semi-structured interviews, focus group discussions, stakeholder consultations, document analysis and short questionnaires. The method should follow the research question, participant access, ethical safeguards and available resources.

04

Programme learning, monitoring and evaluation

RFC may support structured learning and evaluation tasks, such as reviewing programme logic, developing evaluation questions, analyzing stakeholder feedback and documenting lessons. Larger or specialist assignments may require additional expertise and partner capacity.

05

Social and economic development research

RFC is interested in questions related to livelihoods, economic inclusion, social protection, women’s enterprise, rural development and resilience. Each assignment should have a clear scope and defined intended users.

06

Institutional and stakeholder consultations

RFC may help plan and document consultations that gather perspectives from relevant stakeholders. Consultations should have a clear purpose, an appropriate participant approach and transparent reporting.

07

Knowledge products

Potential outputs include research reports, policy briefs, working papers, literature reviews, discussion notes and presentations. Products should communicate their evidence base, authorship, methods and limitations.

08

Research dissemination and knowledge exchange

RFC aims to communicate research in accessible formats and support constructive dialogue among researchers, practitioners, institutions and other interested audiences.

09

Research collaboration

RFC welcomes discussions with universities, civil-society organizations, development programmes and public institutions where objectives, responsibilities and resources can be agreed clearly.

10

Commissioned research and analytical support

RFC may consider defined research and analysis assignments where the requested deliverables fit its capacity or can be undertaken with suitable specialist partners. Scope, schedule, fees, data responsibilities and payment arrangements should be agreed in writing.
